Gilding is technically using gold leaf or powder, but we use liquid gold colors to apply decorative trim.

 

 

From top to bottom:

Top: coppery orangey gold

Middle: gold leaf, old looking

Bottom: classic gold, brighter

The middle color was used to decorate this black clock.

I think the color used on the clock in the book was the orangey gold

With soft gilding in gilding color D, a very classic gold. The base color is Gray #14.
