Handsome Danish clock with half turned columns, finial and applied decorations. This clock is from Copenhagen from c. 1850. The body is pegged together. There are two examples of exceptional and unique metal work on this clock.
and shown with two other Danish clocks:
There is a wonderful and unusual hook that secures the face to the bonnet and the clock hands have heart shapes - very special.
The keyhole hardware escutcheon is bone - typical of the time period.
The works are cleaned and running well. Listen to the video on this page and you will hear the soft sweet chime and the quiet tick tock of this wonderful clock.
There is a nice repeater string. You can learn more about repeater strings on this page. After placing the works, pull the repeater string just behind the face and allow it to hang down into the body. The support for the works is most unusual and very practical. The strings for the weights come down through the forward slot and the pendulum through the smaller slot behind.
Fully restored and awaiting your choice of finish.
