Width 6 3/4"
Danish needlepont c. 1930-50. Expertly stitched in needlepoint and petitpoint with wool yarn.
The petitpoint lady in the center is I think sitting on an elegant swing. Her skirts are done in shades of grayish blue, the blouse in pale rose and cream. Her face is precisely stitched with a happy peaceful expression.
The flowers are stitched around urns done in shades of grays. In the second grouping down from the top, there are four stitches missing from the backing wool next to a leaf.
The flowers are roses in shades of pink, in golden yellows and a third in soft lilacs. The leaves are in many shades of sage.
The backing is a brown velvet. The edging is a wonderful zigzag metallic.
The hardware is a fabulous cherub pattern that I haven't seen before. It is of cast brass and is quite heavy. The cherubs have very fine detail on their faces and wings. The matching bell has a soft tinkling sound and a cherub pattern as well.
